How faithful have you been in praying for your leaders. The plan of the enemy is to make your leaders as ineffective as possible. It is also to make the country/community as ungovernable as possible. It is up to you to keep them in prayers. Don’t wait to complain when things go wrong. In fact you should always ask yourself how much you should be blamed for leadership that is ungodly.
God’s will for us is contained in His word. Let the scripture speak:
1 Tim 2:1-3 I urge, then, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our saviour
Isa 65:1-2 I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me. I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name. I said “Here I am, here I am”. All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations

I found out that Proverbs 16 can be a desirable way to pray for our leaders. Remember, you should always repent on their behalf as you stand in the gap for them. God waits to hear from you! Don’t be silent as you seek God for your leaders and nation. Ask God to
- Give them wisdom in planning for our nation and also guide their steps v.1,7
- That they will commit to the lord whatever they do. Also commit everything they do to the Lord. V.3
- Remove wickedness and pride from them, and frustrate the proud and wicked. V.4 and 5
- To create in them hearts that love, make them faithful and fear Him. Remove hatred and unfaithfulness from their lives. V6
- That God shall order their ways and make them pleasing to Him, and make their enemies at peace with them. V.7
- Cause them to desire righteousness and hate injustice. Work to see justice in the land and uphold it.v.8
- Take away dishonesty from them, make them honest, truthful and hate wrong doing. V 11-13
- For His face to shine upon them and find favour in Him. V. 15
- Make them walk in the highway of the upright and avoid all evil against them. V.17
- Heed instructions from the Lord, shun pride and put their trust in the Lord. V. 18-20
- Give them wise counsellors and a discerning spirit. Give them understanding and take away folly from them. V.21-23
- Give them good health and healing to their bones. V24
- Take away from them greed, wickedness, perversion, violence and all manner of evil. V 26-30
- Cause them to be patient in what they do and bring them to a ripe old age. V. 31-32
