Let Scripture speak

Mt 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Lu 16:9 And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. {mammon: or, riches}

Lu 16:11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? {mammon: or, riches}

Lu 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Money is not a necessary evil as is commonly misinterpreted in 1 Tim 6:10. We need it. The problem is the attitude that we have about it and the way we deal with it. We should never underestimate the power of money, or better put, the power behind money. The Aramaic word Mammon used by Jesus to talk about money personifies mammon as a rival god. There is power that dominates money. Apart from power to buy, there are real spiritual forces behind it which give it life. Money grips our hearts and sucks kindness out of us. We treasure it. When we have it we have power, when we don’t we walk in fear, we lack confidence. It causes us to worship it. You wake up early and retire very late searching for it, yet you can never say you had enough! It pulls your attention, even from God. It turns to be an idol, a deity. It can give you security, induce guilt and give power. We value people in relation to their income. We are entangled in a maze of searching for money that we forget to show kindness to others, or even have time for ourselves and one another, and this goes on and on until we die. We find ourselves at times working in places we would not wish, for they don’t serve God, but because we need money, we can’t get ourselves out of them. Symbolically Jesus tried to cleanse the temple from its mammon worship. Sadly, this worship is still in the church; in fact is a dominant spirit in the church today.

We need to conquer this God. We need to appreciate God for what He has given us. We need to identify and confess it if it has controlled us. We need to remember the poor and help them. We need to understand this and allow it to sink in us, that money is “Given by God, owned by God, and to be used for the purposes of God”. Giving has a way of breaking the power of mammon; it destroys the demon of greed. Let us give. Let us tithe. Indeed we know that giving is receiving, and so we are in a way shifting our dependence from money to God. We are building trust in him and driving away the spirit of fear that attacks us when we lack. Whether we have much or little, let not money control us, but let us like Paul say I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need (Phil 4:12). Overcoming mammon should also be done by engaging in spiritual warfare. You need to break the power also by prayer. Remember also that you shall give account of how you used the money/wealth God has given you, for you are just a steward. We are temporary stewards of the house we live in, the car we drive, the garden we plant, the job we manage. Let us treat wealth like John Wesley after he heard a report that his house had been destroyed by fire, “The Lords House burned, one less responsibility for me”. Put wealth where it belongs. Consider these prayer bullets

  • Thank you Lord for the money and wealth that you have given me.
  • I want to be a faithful steward of what you have given me.
  • I repent of ways that I have idolised money in my life in Jesus name
  • I break every idol of mammon in Jesus name
  • I bind and break the power of mammon in my life in Jesus name.
  • Purge me from the spirit of mammon
  • I refuse to serve mammon in Jesus name
  • I commit my money and all you have given me to you. Guide me on how to use it, where and to who.
  • Direct my investments, decisions and plans that relate to the money/wealth yall belongs to Godou have given me.

The bible talks severally about fire. From the Old Testament times to present day times, fire has been used as a weapon by the enemy, or against the enemy. Just as the enemy will use evil thoughts into our minds to destroy us, he will as well use fiery darts to destroy us.  Let the scripture speak:

Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the enemy.

Nu 21:8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

Isa 14:29 Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent’s root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent. {cockatrice: or, adder}

Isa 30:6 The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them.

1 Peter 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Isa 9:18  For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.

Sometimes the above fire may not be visible physically, sometimes you will suffer from burning sensations in your body. Whichever way the Lord helps you discern it, take charge and don’t allow the enemy to crush you. You must have seen drawings that capture a dragon or a snake emitting fire from its mouth –that is what the enemy would wish to do to you, your house, your faith or even your harvest. Consider to pray the bullets below

  • I quench with the shield of faith every fiery dart the enemy sends my way
  • I quench every fire brand sent against my life by the enemy in Jesus name
  • I bind and cast out every fiery serpent sent against my life in the name of Jesus
  • I release the sword of the spirit against every fiery serpent sent my way in Jesus name
  • I quench every fire the enemy would throw into my sanctuary in the name of Jesus
  • I refuse to be burned by the fire of the enemy in Jesus name. The enemy’s flame will not kindle over me
  • I overcome every fiery trial sent against me in Jesus name
  • I quench every fire of wickedness sent against my life by the enemy
  • Let the unquenchable fire of the Holy Spirit quench every fire from the enemy against my life in Jesus nameJesus, my light
  • The enemy will not be able to burn up my harvest in Jesus name
  • I recover back by fire every blessing that my enemies have burned up in Jesus name
