PRAYING FOR HIS PRESENCE

IN HIS PRESENCE

For us to fully appreciate and enjoy our Christian walk, we need to seek and be in God’s presence. Moses in Exodus 33:15 knew the importance of such. He thus felt they would live a life of defeat if they walked without God’s presence. Thus he told God that they would only wish to leave the place they were in if God’s presence would be with them. Jesus said in John 15 that we could only bear fruit if we abode in Him (v4). The psalmist longed and thirsted for God’s presence (Ps 42). If there is one place that Isaiah got transformed completely and set him on the sincere path of serving God, then it was when he came in God’s presence. His sins were exposed, he felt so dirty and cried out for God’s mercy to change him. God touched him with a live coal and he was able to change. What benefits do we get from His presence? As we behold the fiery eyes of Jesus in his presence, the Holy Spirit transforms us from one glory to another. In God’s presence we receive mercy, healing, revelation of our sins, purging of our sins, joy, favour, honour, glory, protection from the wicked and evil tongues, rest among many others. I pray that every Christian thirsts for this. I found these words by Benny Hinn capturing the essence of hungering for His presence quite inspiring:
” Hunger is the sign of life in a believer. One of the first symptoms of illness is the loss of appetite. When hunger is gone, a person is increasingly open to more sickness and weakness. Real believers are hungry, and that hunger is placed in the heart by the Lord Himself, drawing you into His presence.” (The three Realms of His presence). I use the prayer points below, and you too can if you really desire to be in his presence. I have added the scriptural backing at the end of the points.

1. I seek your presence, O Lord my God.
2. Create in me a hunger to be where you are always
3. I desire to walk with you in your presence, may I never walk alone in life
4. Reveal my hidden sin o Lord in your presence
5. I repent of ………. . Wash me, forgive me and purge me in you presence my God.
6. Let me find joy, love peace, rest, direction, favour and strength in your presence.
7. Show me the path of life o Lord in Jesus name
8. I abide in the secret place of your presence and I will be protected from the plots of my enemies. Hide me secretly in a pavilion from the tongues of men
9. Do not cast me away from your presence, o Lord I beseech you; and do not take away your Spirit from me
10. I will come before your presence in singing. I will be quiet before you my God
11.Let every mountain in my life, family, church, place of work etc break down to pieces in your presence.
12. Let the wicked who pursue, surround, stand against or even rise against me stumble and fall in your presence in Jesus name
13.May your presence make me whole, O Lord my God. May your Spirit transform me from one glory to another in Jesus name. May I live, bear fruit and serve you in your presence always.
14. Draw and transform your servants in your presence in Jesus name

Jesus is our spring

Jesus is the spring

A story is told about a certain man who used to live high in the mountains. His responsibility was to keep the spring pure: he would remove trash, dead animals, reroute contaminated streams in the vicinity of the spring among others. Sadly, the town beneath was short of money and so they decided to cancel the man’s salary to balance their budget. They argued that people seldom saw him, and the stream would probably remain pure by itself. It did so for a short while, but then it was filled with fungus, and an epidemic spread through the village. As a result, some members of the towns governing council suggested measures to take to clean up the water supply with the latest chemicals. These measures were of some value, so the epidemic slowed. In the next mayoral elections, some candidates came up with theories of how to solve the solution. The wisest among them suggested that they rehire the keeper of the spring, for it was at the top of the mountains where contamination took place. The same happens today, that many at times we do not tackle issues from the source of the rottenness; we used methods to avert the situation while the going lasts, but not once and for all. The problems we see in the world today will not be solved by good policies, learned people, hiring the most learned crew; no, they need Christ, who reigns at the source of the spring. He is the one who can “remove the rotten trash” in our societies, and solve the problems we are grappling with: corruption, nepotism, tribalism, devil worship, defiance, greed, ungodliness, unbelief, immorality among many others. Sadly, the world has pushed Him out of the picture, and the church in a way has allowed the world to redefine the cross to them. Now the world is telling the church what they should and what they shouldn’t do (or be doing). The church has also allowed the world into the church, thus the world (what is secular) is defining how we should worship, dress, drive, live, party, pray, give, fellowship et cetera. The cross is no longer the centre; it is tactfully being pushed aside. We need to go on our knees for God’s will, purposes and design to be done and fulfilled in our generation. Else, another generation will come and blame ours because we did not do our part. Remember, as long as Moses’ hands were lifted up, the Amelekites were being defeated; and as long as your/my hands are up, your/my family, neighbourhood, school, church, nation (s), generation etc will encounter the transforming power of the cross. This calls you and me to take our part. God bless you

2014 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 140,000 times in 2014. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 6 days for that many people to see it.
