never give up
Let the scripture speak
Lu 18:7 And will not God do right in the cause of his saints, whose cries come day and night to his ears, though he is long in doing it? (Bible in Basic English)
Lu 18:7 And will not God vindicate his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? (Revised Standard Version)
In his teaching on perseverance in Prayer, Jesus taught of this widow who troubled a judge severally in her search for justice. The Judge had very little regard for her, but had to give in to do away with her noise (to have peace) as she constantly came to him. Jesus poses the above question, which in essence implies that if we don’t tire, but continue to call on the Lord, God will meet our needs.
I don’t know the present state of the person reading this, but whether in this boat or not, it will happen to you once, when you’ll feel like you want to give up. Continue calling upon his name day and night, and give praise always for your redeemer is coming with solution to your problem. Some habits are very difficult to break, some problem do not seem to have any solution at hand, some situation may seem too tough; yet we have the ancient of days, who is with us and who gives us victory. Trust in God, don’t give up, your help is on the way. Take these words to God as you pray and thank God that he is working on your issue.
Don’t complain. Some people start quarreling God, asking him why he is not coming speedily to help, others wonder what they have done to God for Him to leave them in the den of lions. In all these situations, remember God is more concerned about your issues than you do. Let us all wait Him in hope and in faith.

I love praying the written word. You see, it is living and active. It is sharper than a double edged sword (Heb 4:12). It is a powerful weapon. Praying the word is praying according to the will of the father. When we pray the word we gain confidence. For “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us”. Again “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven” Ps 119:89. Psalms 23 is a powerful word, both for prayer and meditation. Consider praying it like this:

ü  I thank you father for being my shepherd. My confidence is in you

ü  Today I thank you because you will lead me beside green pastures and lead me beside quiet waters. I will both delight in you as well as enjoy your wonderful provisions for me.

ü  For your names sake, for your glory and your goodness, you will restore my soul. You will restore me from errors of wandering

ü  Your presence and pastoral care will be upon me. even if I walk through the valley of the shadow of death where danger looms, I thank you because you will be with me to save and sustain me

ü  Today, just like yesterday, you will furnish me with plenty and variety of provisions. My enemies will see, envy and fret but they will not hinder my blessings. I will attend thy banquet and feast with security. I receive your anointing over my head by faith, my cup will also overflow (God’s banquet has feeding, drinking and anointing – this used to be for distinguished guests, and such are you!)

ü  Wonderful God I thank you for your goodness and mercy that shall follow me all the days of my life. I will enjoy communion with you, and I will dwell in your presence for ever

prayer 5Prayer is a mighty weapon in a believer’s hand. Edward Payson wrote to a brother: Prayer is the first thing, the second thing, the third thing necessary for a minister, especially if he have revivals. Pray, then, my dear brother, pray, pray, pray”. Jesus told his disciples “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it” John 14:13.

Through PRAYER, NO

Problem that can’t be solved

Sickness that can’t be healed

Burden that can’t be lifted

Storm that can’t be weathered

Devastation that can’t be relieved

Sorrow  that can’t be broken

Sinner that can’t be saved

Perishing that can’t be rescued

Fallen that can’t be lifted

Hurt that can’t be removed

Broken relationship that can’t be mended

Difference that can’t be resolved

Hindrance that can’t be shaken

Limitation that can’t be overcome

Mourning that can’t be comforted

Ashes that can’t become beauty

Heaviness that can’t be covered with garments of praise

Thirst that can’t be quenched

Dry ground that can’t be flooded

Desert that cant blossom

Congregation that can’t be revived

Preacher that can’t be anointed

Church pews that can’t be filled

Church leadership that can’t become one

Community that can’t become one

Nation that can’t be transformed

And I must add, you can’t remain the same again. Tumbes (Kiswahili word for ‘let us pray’)

Lord, make me a channel of thy peace,

That where there is hatred I may bring peace;

That where there is wrong I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;

That where there is discord I may bring harmony;

That where there is error I may bring truth;

That where there is doubt I may bring faith;

That where there is despair I may bring hope;

And where there are shadows I may bring Thy light;

That where there is sadness I may bring joy;

Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted,

To understand than to be understood,

To love than to be loved;

For if it is by giving that one receives,

It is by self-forgetting  that one finds,

It is by forgiving that one is forgiven,

It is by dying to self, and believing on Jesus, that one awakens to eternal life.

Keep on praying. Courage brother

If while on your knees praying for the one you would have reconciled to God, you could but see what is passing in his soul – the wrestling, the remorse he strives vainly to stifle, the work of the holy spirit going on in his heart, gently but firmly triumphing over the will – how earnestly, how incessantly would you continue to pray?

Courage, then. The ground may seem dry for cultivation, but each prayer will be as a drop of water. The marble may be very hard, but each prayer is like a hammer’s stroke that wears away the roughness.

Just before Moses died, he spoke blessings upon the children of Israel. He had a special blessings uttered upon each one of the tribe of Israel. You can find these blessings in Deuteronomy 33, and you still can appropriate these blessings upon yourself or your loved ones for you are a descendant of Israel by promise through Christ, for we are the descendants of Abraham. “… for Abraham is the father of those who believe. That is what the scriptures mean when God said to him, ‘I have made you the father of many nations’ “Rom 4:16-17

  • Begin with praise and worship. Remember, we enter his gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and his courts with praise (Ps 100:4)
  • Lord I declare that you are my lord and father, and I love you. Thank you for your everlasting love for me
  • With great humility I come before you, arise, O Lord and bless me. Let the treasures of heavenly blessings be unlocked before me O Lord. I command the store houses and treasures of heaven be unlocked before me in Jesus name. o Lord direct me to my treasures
  • I command every barrier to my heavenly treasures to be destroyed now in Jesus name
  • I receive blessings in the Order of the family of Reuben, that I shall not die but live (Deut 33:6)
  • Pour upon me the blessings you spoke of Judah, give me strength, defend my cause and help me against my enemies (v 7)
  • Bless me, your servant O Lord in the order of Levi, let the work of my hands be accepted before you, crush the loins of my enemies and strike down my foes that they shall never rise again (v 11)
  • I receive by faith as a child of promise the blessings of the house of Benjamin, that I shall live in safety. Preserve me O Lord continuously and preserve me from harm (v 12)
  • Speak your blessings upon me as you spoke to the tribe of Joseph, that shall receive choice gifts from the heavens and the earth. Let abundance dwell with me and your favour be upon my life. Give me the strength and majesty of a young bull, let my horn be lifted like that of a wild ox. Make me gore distant nations and drive them to the ends of the earth. Let the horn of my enemies be broken in front of me. (vs 13-17)
  • May I prosper at home in the order of your blessings upon the tribe of Issachar, and abroad like Zebulun. Make me summon people to come to you to offer sacrifices on your holy mountain. Direct my paths to the treasures of the sea and those of the sand (vs 18-19)
  • And like the tribe of Dan Lord, let me from today get the best share in the land – the leaders share. I tear off the arm and head of the enemies from this moment (v 21)
  • Like a lions cub I leap from troubles in the order of the blessings of Dan in the name of Jesus (v 22)
  • From today I receive the blessings of the tribe of Naphtali. I possess by faith the west and the south (v 23)
  • I rise to take the blessings of the house of Asher in Jesus name. I bathe my feet in olive oil. Let the bolts of my gates be of iron and bronze. Let my strength match the length of my days. (v 24-25)
  • Arise, and go before me my lord. The lord is my refuge and my fortress. He thrusts my enemies before me. It is he who cries out “destroy them”. How blessed I am, who else is like me, a people saved by the lord. He is my shield and my triumphant sword. My enemies will bow before me and I will trample on their backs from today, in the mighty name of Jesus. (vs 26-29)
