Flame-hearted Men Are The Crying Need Of The Hour!( adapted from HERALD OF HIS COMING)

By Leonard Ravenhill

Men aflame are needed for this midnight hour. The Flame of the living God became the Flame of the human heart to the glorious company in the upper room on the day of Pentecost. The church began with men in the upper room – agonizing, and is ending with them in the supper room – organizing. The church began in revival, it is ending in ritual. It started virile, it is ending sterile. The charter members of the church were men of heat and no degrees, the church ends with many holding degrees, but no heat!

Ah, brethren, Flame-hearted men are the crying need of the hour! Men to be a pillar of fire. God-guided men to lead a misguided people. Passionate Pauls to stir timid Timothies. Men of Flame to outshine and outburn men of name. We need knights of prayer to lead nights of prayer. We need true prophets to warn of false profits. “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).

The cry is, “Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly…Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep…” (Joel 2:15-17).

Inspired men are desperately needed! Believers with Spirit-generated souls are indispensable to this degenerate generation. The gale of end-time iniquity will blow out mere human flame.

The wise will understand. Be alarmed! The conflict gets stiffer! This is the night of blight and plight. Was there ever such an evil hour? Reiterated effort is the price we have to pay for progress. As the church goes, so goes the world!

Isaiah 45:3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call [thee] by thy name, [am] the God of Israel.

John 15:7-11 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and [that] your joy might be full.

Jeremiah 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Jesus is calling us to a deeper relationship. He wants to show and help us experience treasures that are hidden in secret places. He is calling us to treasures of His love, peace, joy,humility, righteousness, unity, wisdom, knowledge, revelations, understanding, meekness, grace, peace, divine victory, holiness, faith, purity among others. It is a place where He sheds us off self righteousness, condemnation, bondage, yokes, burdens, self centeredness, pride, lust, covetousness, busy bodying, back biting,  disunity, despair, fear, self worth etc.
He leads us to this sacred place of His treasures. Treasures are never found easily or in the open, you must work to get them. In Christ however, You just need to surrender and desire Him alone. Seek to find Him, ask Him to give you grace to seek Him. As we abide in Him and Him in us, we start getting changed to this wonderful glory.
Lets desire to journey and partake of these treasurers. The more we draw nearer to His heart the more the treasure and glory, and the more He will glorify in us. This is a place where we see ourselves as unworthy and the worst of sinners were it not for His grace. It is a place where He alone receives glory from whatever we do while in these earthly vessels. It is a place where we start seeing through His eyes of love, hearing through Him and desiring to see holiness and justice in your life and church. A place we shall know His heart for the fallen world.
May our prayer then always be: Spirit of God, lead me to that place I have never been before where your love flows deeper than the sea.

Ps 85:6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
Luke 18: 8b …nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
Today we are living at a time when there are myriad problems in the church, the nation and the nations of the earth. The church that is supposed to be the salt of the world has become saltless and has been engrossed in the ways of the world. Idolatry, immorality, sexual pervasion, grand corruption in political spheres, nepotism, tribalism, racism, crime, pleasure- worship, crime, worship of mammon and many other evils are the order of the day. We need God in our times. The answer lies with the church. God’s people must return to him in humility and turn away from wickedness. We need God to bend us to save the World, and what great joy this will bring. Desire to be revived. Seek God to revive you, the church, your city, your nation and the nations of the earth. Let us hate sin and thirst for this move of God. Seek it, even if it tarries, it will come. I came across the article below by Sarah Foulkes Moore from Herald of His Coming. I believe her article will charge you to seek the Lord. You can always get such inspiring articles from http://www.heraldofhiscoming.com.
“It was in 1904. All Wales was aflame. The nation had drifted far from God. The spiritual conditions were low indeed. Church attendance was poor, and sin abounded on every side,” writes Oswald J. Smith.
“Suddenly, like an unexpected tornado, the Spirit of God swept over the land. The churches were crowded. Multitudes were unable to get in. The meetings ran day and night. Evan Roberts was the human instrument God was using. Singing, testimony and prayer were the chief features. Nothing had ever come over Wales with such far-reaching results. Infidels were converted, drunkards, thieves and gamblers saved, and thousands reclaimed to respectability. Confessions of awful sins were heard on every side. Old debts were paid. The theater had to close for want of patronage. In five weeks 20,000 conversions were recorded.”
A correspondent of an English paper writing of the revival says: “If I had been asked a month ago whether a revival was probable in Wales, I should have answered, ‘No.’ It seemed to me that higher criticism had wrecked the ordinary machinery of revival and nothing could be done to disturb the prevailing apathy.”
The Fire of God Breaking Out
Years before, God had breathed in the heart of a collier lad in the coal mines of Loughor, a prayer for a spiritual awakening. For thirteen unwearying, unflagging years Evan Roberts prayed and pleaded for the Spirit’s outpouring, alone and with others, until his petitions became a consuming flame. Then it was the fire of God broke out at Loughor and spread like a blazing prairie fire the world around. The revival began among Christians confessing to their lack of assurance of salvation, powerlessness, etc. In one week seventy Christians sought the Lord for the removal of hindrances in their Christian life and made a full surrender of themselves to Christ.
After this the fire of the Holy Ghost fell upon the meetings. The congregations grew until places of worship were unable to accommodate all who wanted to attend. Thousands were eager to testify to what the Lord had done for them. The revival for which Evan Roberts and others had prayed for years, had come!
Papers reporting the awakening wrote, “The whole district is in the grip of an extraordinary spiritual awakening which shows no signs of relaxing.”
Day and night the meetings went on. From the lips of the humblest and lowliest poured forth passionate appeals in prayer which quickened the whole being. Men and women rose more than one at a time and prayed with a fervor which was inspired. Everywhere the Spirit of the Lord was felt – in the street, in the stores, in the trains….
Visitors came from far and near and the prayer meetings were attended by crowds. Prizefighters and the most besotted of drunkards were lifted from the depths of degradation and their hearts set aflame with the Savior’s love of souls.
Seth Joshua relates that many years before the revival broke out in Evan Roberts’ meetings, that he had it laid on his heart to ask the Lord definitely to take a lad from the coal mines or from the field even as He took Elisha, to revive His work in Wales. He asked the Lord to raise up an instrument whereby human pride might be humbled – not one from Cambridge, lest it minister to people’s pride, nor one from Oxford lest it feed the intellectuals in the church….
Under the constraint of the Holy Spirit, people thronged to hear the Spirit-baptized young miner. Churches were filled all hours of the day. “Ye are My witnesses,” was the burden of the message as in the days of Pentecost. Prayer, testimony and singing would sweep over the congregation in torrents and hundreds of souls would surrender to God, the congregations bursting into joyous thanksgiving and hymns of gladness. The Holy Spirit bore witness by “signs and wonders” wrought amongst the thronging multitudes. Indescribable scenes took place.
At certain times in the services Evan Roberts would “test” the meeting and give four definite steps necessary to full salvation:
1. The past must be made clear by sin being confessed to God, and everything wrong to man put right.
2. Every doubtful thing in the life must be put away.
3. There must be prompt and implicit obedience to the Holy Spirit.
4. There must be public confession of Christ.
Bend the Church, Save the World!
The burden of Evan Roberts was for the church. His cry was, “Bend the church and save the world!” In the Welsh, the word “bend” conveys the meaning of submission to God and removing resistance to His will. Roberts’ one aim was to get Christians right with God so that the Spirit might come with converting power upon the unsaved.
CALVARY was his theme. He would break down in heart-anguish when he spoke of Calvary. “You would not be cold toward God,” he would sob, “if you come to Calvary.”
Many prayers were simply thanksgiving to God for Calvary. The hymns rang with Calvary, one of the favorites being, “The Mount of Calvary,” an exultant song of triumph, recording Christ’s victory over death and hell at the Cross. Souls were sung to Christ, and exulted over in song when won. The spirit of joy and gladness filled all hearts as thousands rejoiced in the salvation wrought by Calvary’s Lamb.
The world bore testimony to the practical, ethical and spiritual fruit of the revival. Students were known to return their medals because unfairly won. The post office’s supply of money order blanks was exhausted as people sought to pay their debts and make restitution. People such as harlots and gamblers – rarely touched by ordinary means – were won to Christ. Magistrates were presented with “white gloves” because there were no court cases. Saloons and theaters closed. Oaths were not heard. Shops were sold out of Bibles and Testaments. Bible reading became the order of the day. Prayer meetings were held in the mines underground, in trains and in all kinds of places.
Far and wide the influence spread. Heads of industry bore witness that the amount of work turned out by their men since the revival began, had been greater than they had known for years. Members of Parliament, busy attending revival services, postponed their political meetings. Theatrical companies coming into the district, found no audiences. It seemed to some that “All the world was praying!” Football teams disbanded because their members became converted and Christ became the only attraction. Young and old put away “drink” and temperance workers saw the Spirit of God accomplish more in three months than they had accomplished in forty years.
A tidal wave of revival rolled over the cities of Wales. Two months after the revival broke, 70,000 names of converts were recorded. Visitors flocked from all parts of the world to see God breaking forth on the sons of men.

Would you wish to experience and maintain a personal revival? I know every Christian would wish to have such. Bill Bright in The Coming Revival: America’s Call to Fast, Pray, and “Seek God’s Face” suggests the following
1. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any unconfessed sin in your life.
2. Seek forgiveness from all whom you have offended, and forgive all who have hurt you. Make restitution where God leads.
3. Examine your motives in every word and deed. Ask the Lord to search and cleanse your heart daily.
4. Ask the Holy Spirit to guard your walk against complacency and mediocrity.
5. Praise and give thanks to God continually and in all ways on all days, regardless of the circumstances.
6. Refuse to obey your carnal (worldly) nature (Galatians 5:16,17).
7. Surrender your life to Jesus Christ as your savior and Lord. Develop utter dependence on Him with total submission and humility.
8. Study the attributes of God.
9. Hunger and thirst after righteousness (Matthew 5:6).
10. Love God with all of your heart, soul and mind (Deut 6:5).
11. Appropriate the continual fullness and control of the Holy Spirit by faith on the basis of God’s command (Eph 5:18) and promise (1 John 5:14,15).
12. Read, study, meditate on, and memorize God’s holy, inspired, inerrant Word daily (Colossians 3:16)
13. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
14. Fast and pray one 24-hour period each week. Fasting reduces the power of self so that the Holy Spirit can do a more intense work within us. Fasting brings yieldedness, even a holy brokenness, resulting in inner calm and self-control. It renews spiritual vision and inspires determination to follow God’s revealed plan for your life.
15. Seek to share Christ daily as a way of life.
16. Determine to live a holy, godly life of obedience and faith.
17. Start or join a home or church Bible study group that emphasizes revival and a holy life.

‘O God we REPENT

For fearing people more than reverencing you!

For choosing to respond to the voice of masses instead of obeying the mandates of the scripture

For building our store of wealth at the expense of godly obedience to biblical stewardship!

For choosing to be and speak politically correct at the expense of silencing biblical truth!

For covering our bodies in the robes of popular fashions rather than the robes of righteousness!

For embracing half truths and obvious lies of the devil and ignoring Your Word that calls for unrighteous living for what it is: sin!

For the millions of children who are aborted by our very own people!

For operating in the spirit of selfish competition in our government, with our business partners, and especially your body, the church!

For embracing styles of entertainment that dull our spiritual senses and open each new generation to greater moral deprivation!

For exalting the ungodly and ignoring the godly!

For loving ourselves, our ways, our conveniences and our philosophies far more than we love you!

For the many lives the devil has destroyed while we, the church, slumbered and engaged in blame!

For using your word for cash gains!

For abandoning the first love we had!

And for these and many more, we humbly ask you to forgive us and heal our land. Amen’

Stir Me, O Lord!

Stir me, O stir me, Lord, I care not how;
But stir my heart in passion for the world:
Stir me to give, to go, but most to pray;
Stir, till the blood-red banner be unfurled
O’er lands that still in heathen darkness lie,
O’er deserts where no cross is lifted high.

Stir me, O stir me, Lord, till all my heart
Is filled with strong compassion for these souls,
Till Thy compelling “must” drives me to prayer;
Till Thy constraining love reach to the poles,
Far North and South, in burning deep desire;
Till East and West are caught in love’s great fire.

Stir me, O Lord! Thy heart was stirred
By love’s intensest fire, till Thou did’st give
Thine only Son, Thy best-loved One,
E’en to the dreadful Cross that I might live;
Stir me to give myself so back to Thee
That Thou can’st give Thyself again through me.

Stir me, O stir me, Lord; for I can see
Thy glorious triumph day begin to break;
The dawn already gilds the Eastern sky!
O Church of Christ, awake! Awake!
O stir us, Lord, as heralds of that day!
The night is past, our King is on His way!
