Flame-hearted Men Are The Crying Need Of The Hour!( adapted from HERALD OF HIS COMING)

By Leonard Ravenhill

Men aflame are needed for this midnight hour. The Flame of the living God became the Flame of the human heart to the glorious company in the upper room on the day of Pentecost. The church began with men in the upper room – agonizing, and is ending with them in the supper room – organizing. The church began in revival, it is ending in ritual. It started virile, it is ending sterile. The charter members of the church were men of heat and no degrees, the church ends with many holding degrees, but no heat!

Ah, brethren, Flame-hearted men are the crying need of the hour! Men to be a pillar of fire. God-guided men to lead a misguided people. Passionate Pauls to stir timid Timothies. Men of Flame to outshine and outburn men of name. We need knights of prayer to lead nights of prayer. We need true prophets to warn of false profits. “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36).

The cry is, “Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly…Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord, weep…” (Joel 2:15-17).

Inspired men are desperately needed! Believers with Spirit-generated souls are indispensable to this degenerate generation. The gale of end-time iniquity will blow out mere human flame.

The wise will understand. Be alarmed! The conflict gets stiffer! This is the night of blight and plight. Was there ever such an evil hour? Reiterated effort is the price we have to pay for progress. As the church goes, so goes the world!

Would you wish to experience and maintain a personal revival? I know every Christian would wish to have such. Bill Bright in The Coming Revival: America’s Call to Fast, Pray, and “Seek God’s Face” suggests the following
1. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any unconfessed sin in your life.
2. Seek forgiveness from all whom you have offended, and forgive all who have hurt you. Make restitution where God leads.
3. Examine your motives in every word and deed. Ask the Lord to search and cleanse your heart daily.
4. Ask the Holy Spirit to guard your walk against complacency and mediocrity.
5. Praise and give thanks to God continually and in all ways on all days, regardless of the circumstances.
6. Refuse to obey your carnal (worldly) nature (Galatians 5:16,17).
7. Surrender your life to Jesus Christ as your savior and Lord. Develop utter dependence on Him with total submission and humility.
8. Study the attributes of God.
9. Hunger and thirst after righteousness (Matthew 5:6).
10. Love God with all of your heart, soul and mind (Deut 6:5).
11. Appropriate the continual fullness and control of the Holy Spirit by faith on the basis of God’s command (Eph 5:18) and promise (1 John 5:14,15).
12. Read, study, meditate on, and memorize God’s holy, inspired, inerrant Word daily (Colossians 3:16)
13. Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
14. Fast and pray one 24-hour period each week. Fasting reduces the power of self so that the Holy Spirit can do a more intense work within us. Fasting brings yieldedness, even a holy brokenness, resulting in inner calm and self-control. It renews spiritual vision and inspires determination to follow God’s revealed plan for your life.
15. Seek to share Christ daily as a way of life.
16. Determine to live a holy, godly life of obedience and faith.
17. Start or join a home or church Bible study group that emphasizes revival and a holy life.

Let us hold fast and pray through. Let’s pray for a revival in our days. The Bible says: “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh ….” Acts 2:17. If Peter declares those to have been the last days, then we are living in the last hours. We need to pray for a revival. What followed the out pouring?

  • Supernatural boldness and power – You will become bold. People will see the difference
  • Amazement – And they were all amazed (Acts2:12). God comes in such a way that everyone gets amazed
  • Conviction of sin – Men asked “what shall we do? (Acts 2:37)
  • These were Holy Spirit conversions – Conviction is not conversion, but it leads to conversions. We shall experience the saving power of God through his pouring of the Holy Spirit

Join me as we ask the Lord to revive us. Let us cry

@ O Lord, revive me

@ Revive your church and your people in our times

@ Let your revival fires blaze in our families, across our community, cities, nations and the earth

@ Let you glory fall in our times as you soak us in your presence and power

@ May your fire lead us to a prophetic prayer revival, a birth of a people who will seek you in truth and in the spirit

@ May many see you Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords exalted on high, in Jeus name

Lord, make me a channel of thy peace,

That where there is hatred I may bring peace;

That where there is wrong I may bring the spirit of forgiveness;

That where there is discord I may bring harmony;

That where there is error I may bring truth;

That where there is doubt I may bring faith;

That where there is despair I may bring hope;

And where there are shadows I may bring Thy light;

That where there is sadness I may bring joy;

Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort than to be comforted,

To understand than to be understood,

To love than to be loved;

For if it is by giving that one receives,

It is by self-forgetting  that one finds,

It is by forgiving that one is forgiven,

It is by dying to self, and believing on Jesus, that one awakens to eternal life.

Stir Me, O Lord!

Stir me, O stir me, Lord, I care not how;
But stir my heart in passion for the world:
Stir me to give, to go, but most to pray;
Stir, till the blood-red banner be unfurled
O’er lands that still in heathen darkness lie,
O’er deserts where no cross is lifted high.

Stir me, O stir me, Lord, till all my heart
Is filled with strong compassion for these souls,
Till Thy compelling “must” drives me to prayer;
Till Thy constraining love reach to the poles,
Far North and South, in burning deep desire;
Till East and West are caught in love’s great fire.

Stir me, O Lord! Thy heart was stirred
By love’s intensest fire, till Thou did’st give
Thine only Son, Thy best-loved One,
E’en to the dreadful Cross that I might live;
Stir me to give myself so back to Thee
That Thou can’st give Thyself again through me.

Stir me, O stir me, Lord; for I can see
Thy glorious triumph day begin to break;
The dawn already gilds the Eastern sky!
O Church of Christ, awake! Awake!
O stir us, Lord, as heralds of that day!
The night is past, our King is on His way!

PRAYING FOR REVIVAL

PRAYING FOR REVIVAL

A revival is a sovereign act of God when he visits his people in a divine way. It is characterized by people humbly seeking the lord, forgiving and stepping beyond their comfort zones so as to be used by God as agents of change in their generation. When revival fires start to fall, preaching becomes fearless, the presence of the Holy Spirit becomes powerful, bring strong convictions of sin, mass repentance and healing.

History reveals that true revival leaps beyond the walls of the church to transform the society. During the Welsh revival for example, for a time, crime disappeared. There were no rapes, no robberies, no murders, no burglaries, no embezzlements, and so the judges had no cases to try. It is reported that the District Consuls held emergency meetings to discuss what to do with the police, now that they were unemployed.

We need God to visit us again in our day. We need God to reverse the moral decadence in our society and our generation. Crime, abortion, divorce, suicide, drug addiction, alcoholism, teen pregnancy, lust, pornography, fornication, sodomy and adultery are rampant in our generation. The church is asleep. It is majorly characterized by wealth and greed. We have forsaken the first love (Rev 2:4-5). The love of many has waxed cold. The church is neither cold nor hot. Jesus said “I am about to spit you out of my mouth” Rev 3:16. Why? Because we are tasteless and repugnant.

Many think that all is well. Many have been consumed by greed and desire for titles and recognition. “You say , ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing’. But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked” Rev 3:15-17.

We surely need God to visit us once again. We would wish to see God honoured in our nation, not being put in the same category with other gods. Only a visitation of the lord will transform our land. We need healing. We need God to visit idols exalted in our nation and crush them.  We need God to destroy corruption, tribalism, nepotism, racism, impunity and injustice in our land.

Only God can bring a change and transformation upon our young generation, which the devil wants to destroy completely. We need God to visit our institutions and transform them by his power. We need healing in our land today, and only God can do it. God told Solomon

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chr 7:14

The answer is not going to come from politicians, or academicians, or cleverly crafted constitution. We can’t turn to our courts. We already know how corrupt they are. Many of their decision already are leading the nation away from the traditional biblical values, bringing curses upon us. Or shall we turn to education? We know that Germany and Japan are the most literate nations in the world, but they were the ones largely responsible for world war 2. Our education system has taken God out of our text books. It teaches evolution and denies the biblical view of creation. There is also moral relativism which is destroying our youth. We can’t either turn to the government which becoming increasingly corrupt. We hear of scandals after scandals. Our business and professional people will be of no help. A hand shake, a promise or a pledge means very little anymore. They are depicted as greedy who are out to rip us off. The media on its part has adopted sensationalism, instead of solid, responsible reporting. It is a tool for the affluent and the politician. The church is also part of the problem. It is also becoming as competitive as the political world. Ministers have been caught in sexual sins, divorce courts, and flamboyant attires, not to mention great mansions and sleek cars at the expense of the congregation do these people really love you or your wallets?

The answer is with “my people”, that is, the believers. If we shall call upon the name of the lord, he will move his hand and use the people who are in charge of given institutions to effect the changes we need. We have an option to sit down and watch as things move from bad to worse, or encourage ourselves and seek the lord.

We need to seek the lord in humility, we need to repent of sins we have committed, sins of omissions and commission. We need to be grieved by sin. We need to deeply repent on behalf of our people. We should be ready to turn from the evils we have been committing. It is only after doing so that we can move the eyes of the lord to us, and make God’s ears be attentive to our cry. He who made the hearing ear will hear, he who has made the seeing eye will see (Ps 94:9). We need times of refreshing to come upon us. We should seek God to quench the desire for sin in our generation. You need to seek the lord to do this, and remember, ask the lord to begin with you! This will be done only through prayer and fasting, be among the number God is going to use. Remember, God will still raise others to cry to him if you fail to take up the challenge, but woe unto you for refusing God’s assignment.

PRAYING THE HABAKKUK’S PRAYER FOR A VISITATION FROM THE LORD AND DESTRUCTION OF GOD’S ENEMIES IN THE NATION(S)

The prophet of God Habakkuk made a powerful prayer, seeking the lord to renew his people and destroy his enemies. Habakkuk prayed a prayer that should be emulated by the present day Christian, putting into consideration the kind of opposition faced by the church in our days. Use the prayer bullets below picked from Habakkuk chapter 3.

  • Lord we have heard your fame, your awesome deeds done in the past generations. v2
  • Renew your deeds in our day, in our time make them known. Visit your people, and in your wrath remember mercy.
  • Arise o Lord, let your glory cover the heavens, and let your praise fill the earth. V3
  • May your splendor be like the sunrise. Let rays flash from your hand where your power is hidden. V4
  • Let a plague go before you, and pestilence and destruction follow your steps as you consume your enemies. V5
  • Arise o Lord, shake the earth, and make the nations tremble. V6
  • Cause ancient mountains of wickedness crumble, and age old hills collapse as you make a way for righteousness over our land/city/nation
  • Let the tents of your enemies be laid bare, let their dwellings be in anguish. V7
  • Let your wrath be upon the rivers, streams and seas as you ride your horses and your victorious chariots. V8
  • Uncover your bow o Lord, call for many arrows and split the earth to consume every satanic flood of filth in our land/nation/city. V9
  • Let your arrows and your spear flash like lightning in the heavens as you destroy principalities, powers, rulers, authorities and wicked spirits in the heavenlies. V11
  • In wrath and in anger stride through the land and thresh your enemies among the nations/in our city/land. 12
  • Deliver your people. Save your anointed ones. V13
  • Crush the leader of the land of wickedness. Stripe him from head to foot. V13
  • Pierce his head with his own spear. Scatter his warriors who storm to scatter us v14. Send blindness upon his warriors.
  • Trample the sea with your horses. Churn the great waters. V15
  • We have heard that you have done this in the past, do it again o Lord in our time. We wait patiently upon you to do it again. V16
  • We rejoice in you for you are surely going to do it. V18
  • O sovereign lord, you are my strength. You make my feet like the feet of a deer. Strengthen and establish us in your righteousness. V19
  • We give you praise o ancient one of Israel.
